The class C commercial driver's license (CDL) provides a wide range of vehicle types and trucking jobs. From recreational vehicles and buses to passenger vans, and even hazardous transport vehicles This is among the most versatile CDLs on the market.
With a class C license, you can operate straight trucks, box trucks, dump trucks and buses designed to carry 16 passengers or more including the driver.
Passenger Vehicles
New York drivers have a diverse selection of driver's license classes to pick from. These classes are tailored to accommodate different driving styles and vehicle types. Adding these endorsements typically involves passing additional knowledge tests and specific skills tests.
The maximum number of passengers that can be transported in a vehicle for passengers with a class C non CDL license is 16, including the driver. Drivers are also required to limit number of minors they carry to one, unless those being transported are immediate family members or over 18. Teen drivers who are under 18 and are licensed with a class C license must have at least one parent or guardian present in the vehicle at all times.
To be eligible for a non-CDL class C license, you must be at least 18 years old and pass a medical exam. Additionally you must satisfy federal requirements to drive on interstates and for the transportation of hazardous materials.
A class M license is offered to those who want to drive motorcycles or mopeds. It is only available for junior drivers, and it is only valid in New York. The teen license also has restrictions such as not being able transport any passengers younger than 21 and not driving between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Combination Vehicles

The DOT has developed specific rules for the transportation of hazardous substances. These rules contain specifications for shipping papers, labels placards, labels, and other topics. A driver who violates the rules could be charged with a DOT violation and could face fines and penalties.
